Overview |
|
| What
is it? |
| The
College is a new and important program of Masonic Education
for members of the Scottish Rite |
| How
does it work? |
There
are four schols of the College: The School of Perfection,
The School of Religion, The School of Philosophy and the School
of Masonry.
The
School of Perfection covers in-depth study of the Lodge or
Perfection Degrees 4 - 11;
The School of Religion provides the same learning opportunity
for the four degrees of the Chapter of Rose Croix; The School
of Philosphy studies the twelve Degrees of the Council of
Kadosh;
The School of Masonry provides study of the 31st and 32nd
Consistory Degrees.
The Adepts of the College administer the College of the Consistory.
Each is responsible for the school(s) he has completed.
Upon successful completion of the School of Perfection, the
Brother becomes an Honorary Past Venerable Master. He also
becomes one of the Adepts of the School of Perfection and
is entitled to vote on the acceptance of papers, etc.
Upon successful completion of the School of Religion, the
Brother becomes an Honorary Past Wise Master. He also becomes
one of the Adepts of the School of Religion as well as the
School of Perfection.
Upon successful completion of the School of Philosophy, the
Brother becomes an Honorary Past Commander. He also becomes
one of the Adepts of the School of Philosophy as well as the
Schools of Perfection and Religion.
Upon
successful completion of the School of Masonry, the Brother
becomes an Honorary Past Master of the Consistory. He also
becomes one of the Adepts of the College of Masonry as well
as the Schools of Perfection, Religion and Philosophy. |
| How
long will it take? |
This is a major program. It will take a minimum of two (2)
years to complete the school of Perfection, a minimum of
one (1) year to complete the School of Religion and a minimum
of two (2) years to complete the School of Philosophy. There
is no time limit for the School of Masonry.
|
| Awards |
| The
Honorary Past Venerable Master, Past Wise Master, Past Commander
and Past Master of Kadosk all receive the Jewel of that office
to wear at Reunions and Scottish Rite Functions. |
| Meetings |
| Those
in the College will meet four (4) times a year, for a Banquet,
Festive Board and the presentation of papers. Since there are
no dues, members will be asked to buy a ticket when they attend
a Festive Board. Currently it is anticipated that tickets will
cost $35.00 each. In addition to a major meal being served,
we anticipate having a renowned Masonic scholar, from outside
the Orient, brought in as a guest speaker. Attendance is encouraged
but is not mandatory. |
| What
do the students do? |
Those
who enroll in the college will be required to demonstrate knowledge
of each Degree. In some cases this will be by a research paper,
in other cases by an essay. There will be options available.
The exact cirriculum is still being developed. It will not be
easy, but it will not be unneccessarily difficult. The purpose
is to obtain knowledge of Masonry, not "jump through hoops."
Present plans are to publish Transactions each year, wiuth selected
papers written by the students.
The College will supply a list of basic reading materials, but
students will have to find other resources on their own, although
help will be available. Students will be responsible for the
purchase of their own books and materials. |
| When
does it start? |
| We'll
began with the Spring 2001 Reunion. Enrollment forms will be
given upon receipt of the $35 registration fee. |
