The regular meeting of the Clay-Platte Scottish Rite Club was opened in proper form at 7:05 pm on March 17, 2008 by President Kevin Hampton, with prayer by the Chaplain, Virden Daugherty, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to our Flag. There were 13 members, 10 ladies and 4 guests present.

Guest Speakers: RWB Don Gilkerson spoke and showed slides to the club on his and Verlee’s trip to Belize where they worked along with other members of their Kearney United Methodist Church group to complete construction on a church building. The men tackled the completion of the ceiling while the ladies taught in the school run by the church. Don explained that public school does not start until the children are 14 years old and so teaching of the younger children is left to private schooling such as the church offers. Brother Don reported that the city they were in had both a Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite represented.

Sickness: It was reported that Ill. Brother Bill Dean Jr. had been taken into the hospital for testing but everything was reported OK as of this writing. Brother Cody Hines has been having problems with his leg and was undergoing tests to determine the cause of the problem.

Minutes: The Minutes of the February 18, 2008 meeting were approved as presented.

Treasurers Report:  The Treasurer reported that our closing balance for February was $708.13

Old Business: No old business to report.

New Business: The Club is actively seeking speakers for our upcoming meetings. If you know of someone who can speak to the group on interesting and relevant topics, please contact the President or Vice President with suggestions.

Remarks: Our Blue Plate Special drawing generated $28.00 this month for charity.

The meeting was closed in regular form at 8:40 pm

Dues for 2008 in the amount of $15.00 are now payable. Dues can be mailed directly to the Treasurer; OR BETTER turn them in when you attend the next meeting! If you are not sure of your dues status, check with the Treasurer.

Speaker: Jo Finney and Stacy Burke, Clinicians for our Scottish Rite Childhood Language Disorders Clinic, will speak at our April Meeting.
