The regular meeting of the Raytown Scottish Rite Club was opened
in proper form by our president Ron Hewitt at 7:00 pm on May 12,
2008 in the old Sultan’s Lounge of Ararat Shrine Temple
with prayer by acting Chaplain, Roger Salyer and the Pledge of
Allegiance lead by our president. There were 12 members, with
10 ladies and guests present.
Guest Speaker:
Brother Ron Hewitt spoke on safe computer usage and how to stay
protected from computer viruses and malicious programs that spy
on your computer activity which are picked up when you visit websites.
He provided software to everyone present that can keep each computer
protected.
He also handed out information on where to go on the internet
to find may interesting websites devoted to Masonic education

and gave everyone
a copy of 1,000 Sacred Texts on CD ROM. The disc included the
Holy Bible, the Koran, and many Masonic writings including Albert
Pike’s Morals and Dogma.
Sickness:
It was noted that Ill. Brother Robert Miller, 33°, passed
away May 4th after a courageous battle with cancer. His memorial
service was attended by a large contingency of Scottish Rite Masons.
It was also noted that Ill. Brother Gary Barron was expected to
undergo an angiogram during the week of May 19th.
Minutes: The minutes were presented via email
and regular mail in advance of the meeting and were approved as
submitted.
Treasurers Report: The Treasurer reported $627.45
in the bank.
Old Business: There was no old business.
New Business: No new business to report
Special Guest: The club welcomed Steve Heflin,
32°, a member of the Clay-Platte Club and the Knights of St
Andrews, to our meeting.
Remarks: Remarks: Special remarks as follows:
• Roger Salyer reported
that the handicapped ramp and it’s progress to becoming
a reality;
• Ron is assembling
a group to attend the Valley of NE Kansas on June 4th for dinner;
• New windows have been
installed on the 1st floor of the Temple and will save money on
utilities;
• The Knights of St.
Andrew need Black Hat members to join them in rebuilding their
group.
The meeting was closed in regular form at 9:00 pm.
Dues for 2008 are now payable. You can mail them
directly to the Secretary/Treasurer; OR BETTER turn them
in when you attend the next meeting! If you are not sure
of your dues status, check with Bill.

need this information by Friday before the meeting on Monday [so
that The Shrine can plan their space and personnel accordingly]!
June Speaker: Jo Finney, Sr. Clinician at the
CLDC, will speak on their progress in our Valley clinic.
